To check an outgoing Dropbox Sign request, locate the exact transaction in Documents and read the status beside its title. If several requests share a similar title, search by signer or sender before acting on the status. The controls below follow Dropbox’s status instructions and search reference.

Find the request in Documents

  1. Log in to app.sign.dropbox.com.
  2. Select Documents in the left sidebar.
  3. Use the search bar or the filters above the documents list to locate the signature request you sent.
  4. Check the status next to the title of that document.

If your list contains several similar documents, use the search bar instead of choosing the first matching title. Dropbox documents modifiers such as to: for a signer address, from: for the sender, title: for document title, and created: for a date range. For example, to: client@example.com can narrow the list to requests sent to that address. A title plus recipient gives you a stronger match than a title alone when your team reuses a document name. The product also supports document-ID search if your internal record includes that ID.

Do not assume a blank result means that a request finished. Try a less restrictive query or clear the filters, then identify the document again. A status belongs to one transaction. If you cannot identify that transaction, you cannot answer whether it remains pending from this screen.

Decide what the status tells you

Read the current label beside the matching title and record that label with the document or request ID used by your team. For a busy signing queue, make the next action depend on the actual state: a pending request calls for follow-up with the signer; a completed one calls for document retrieval and file review. The vendor status page identifies where the label appears but does not define every possible label. If you see an unfamiliar state, inspect that request before deciding it is ready for handoff.

Status alone does not certify the wording of the document, the correctness of recipient details, or the contents of a signed file. Those are separate checks. This distinction matters when someone asks whether a client packet is “done”: the status answers whether the signing transaction is complete, while the packet still needs a content and destination check.

You can also open the Dropbox mobile app and tap Signature requests on its home screen. Use that route when you are away from the web app. If you cannot locate the same transaction or read a clear label there, return to Documents on the web. Record the status as unconfirmed until you can match it to the intended request.
